winemaker's notes:

Our 1997 Chardonnay's rich, ripe layers of apple, pear and melon have intriguing hints of hazelnut and spice. Toasty oak nuances culminate in the creamy lingering finish. We captured the vibrant fruit flavors of Chardonnay grapes grown in the cool regions of Napa Valley and enhanced the wine's complexity with barrel fermentation, native yeasts and hand stirring during aging on the yeast.

wine.com Notes

The winemaking team at Mondavi uses a variety of time tested techniques to produce this Napa Valley Chardonnay. It starts with a focus on fruit from the cooler regions of the valley where grapes maintain bright acidity even when fully ripe. In the winery the juice is fermented in small French oak barrels using the yeasts indigenous to the vineyard (as opposed to innoculating with a one or more pure strains). The wine is then aged in the same barrels and the fermentation lees periodically stirred. The final step is to blend the barrels and bottle without filtration. Chart as of 10/99

Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.

Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
