Mondavi’s property in Carneros is well known for producing exceptional Pinot Noir. The 2011 release lives up to the hype with typical Carneros flair. This cool climate region just north of the San Francisco Bay is blanketed by fog on many mornings, a situation Pinot grapes really love. We love the results in the bottle! There’s an earthy Burgundian character mixed with vibrant red fruit. Very fine-grain and elegant, this is classic Carneros at a steal of a price!
Wine and Spirits
"Sourced mainly from Stanly Ranch, this is a vibrant wine with the savory stemminess that can make young Burgundy so compelling (it's about 30 percent whole cluster). It has the tart cherry fruit and clay-like tannins of Carneros, but the brightness of the fruit breaks out of the structure, feeling light and effortless."
The scent of blackberry and spicy bramble anticipates layers of lush black fruit and raspberry interwoven with nutmeg, espresso, woodsy cedar and toasty oak. Substantial on the palate with polished, well-integrated tannins, the flavor lingers long after the glass is empty.
